Coffee Slushie

A coffee slushie is a cold, icy beverage made by blending strong brewed coffee with sweetener and ice until smooth. It has a frosty, granular texture with a rich coffee aroma and a visual of crushed ice suspended in a vibrant, dark beverage. The final drink is refreshing, with a bold coffee flavor and a pleasantly icy consistency.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee cooled to room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or to taste
  • 2 cups ice cubes preferably crushed or small-sized

Equipment

  • Coffee Maker or Espresso Machine
  • Blender
  • Measuring cups
  • Ice Cube Tray

Method

  1. Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool completely to room temperature or chill in the refrigerator. This ensures the slushie mixture won't melt too quickly.
  2. Add the cooled coffee into your blender, then pour in the sweetener and blend briefly to dissolve the sugar evenly.
  3. Prepare the ice cubes, preferably crushed or small, and add them to the blender over the coffee mixture.
  4. Secure the lid and blend on high speed until the mixture becomes thick, slushy, and grainy with no large ice chunks remaining.
  5. Pause briefly to check the texture; it should be crunchy yet scoopable, with a glossy dark appearance dotted with icy bits.
  6. Pour the coffee slushie into chilled glasses, allowing the icy goodness to overflow slightly for an inviting presentation.
  7. Optional: Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon, a drizzle of salted caramel, or a dollop of whipped cream for extra flavor and visual appeal.

Notes

For an extra smooth texture, blend longer and consider adding a splash of milk or cream. Adjust sweetness to your preference by increasing or reducing the sugar. Using fresh, high-quality coffee will enhance the flavor.
