  • 1 can puff pastry dough store-bought or homemade, thawed if frozen
  • 1 egg egg wash beaten, for brushing

  • Parchment paper
  • Knife
  • Rolling pin
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the puff pastry into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide, using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter.
  3. Wrap each smoked sausage with several strips of pastry, overlapping slightly to mimic bandages, leaving a small section uncovered at one end for the sausage’s tip.
  4. Place the wrapped sausages on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly apart.
  5. Brush the top of each wrapped sausage with the beaten egg wash to give the pastry a shiny, golden appearance.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, about 12-15 minutes.
  7. If desired, add small dots of chocolate chips or black peppercorns for eyes near the uncovered end of the sausage, pressing them gently into the pastry.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving to enjoy the crispy, flaky crust and savory sausage inside.

Notes

For an extra spooky effect, use black sesame seeds for eyes or additional decorative touches. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
