Method
 

  1. Bring water or milk to a gentle boil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the rolled oats to the boiling liquid, stirring continuously to prevent sticking.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the oats simmer, stirring occasionally until they absorb most of the liquid and become tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the pumpkin puree, ensuring it is well incorporated into the oats and begins to warm through.
  5. Add the maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt, stirring until the spices are evenly distributed and the mixture is fragrant.
  6. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the oatmeal reaches your desired thickness and is heated through.
  7. Remove the saucepan from the heat and give the oatmeal a final stir to ensure everything is well combined.
