Whiskey Slushie

A whiskey slushie is a chilled cocktail made by blending whiskey with sweeteners and flavoring agents, then freezing it into a semi-frozen, slushy texture. The final drink has a frosty, granular consistency with a boozy kick and a refreshing aroma, perfect for relaxed evenings. It combines the smoothness of whiskey with the icy crunch of a snow cone, creating a visually appealing and intoxicating treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water hot or warm
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whiskey
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed preferred
  • 1 cup water cold, for freezing

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Combine the hot water and granulated sugar in a small pot and stir over medium heat until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is clear. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
  2. Pour the cooled sugar syrup into a mixing bowl and add the whiskey, lemon juice, and cold water. Whisk everything together until well blended, creating a sweet, citrusy base.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a shallow baking dish or a freezer-safe container. Place it in the freezer and allow it to chill for about 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to break up ice crystals and promote an even slush.
  4. Once the mixture has firmed up into a slushy consistency, scoop it into a blender.
  5. Blend the mixture for about 15-20 seconds until it reaches a smooth, icy, granular texture with small ice crystals.
  6. Pour the chilled slushie into glasses and serve immediately for a frosty, refreshing drink.

Notes

For a stronger whiskey flavor, increase the amount of whiskey. You can also add a splash of citrus or a mint sprig for garnish.
